  • Camino Books welcomes award-winning author Shobha Rao for a discussion and signing of her novel "Indian Country" on Thursday, August 14 at 6 p.m., on the Pacific Breeze Cafe Deck at Del Mar Plaza. Joining Rao in conversation will be Jason Blitman, who hosts the podcast "Gays Reading." "Indian Country" follows a newly arranged married couple’s journey from India to Montana, and their firsthand experiences enduring colonialism and racism in the American West. Rao, who moved to the United States at age seven, is also the author of the short story collection, "An Unrestored Woman," and the novel, "Girls Burn Brighter." Rao is also the winner of the Katherine Anne Porter Prize in Fiction and was a Grace Paley Teaching Fellow at The New School. The event is free and open to the public.
