  • Teens explore Fashion Design & Sewing! Choose from the following dates: Monday through Friday June 16 – 20 from 1 p.m. – 4 p.m. July 14 – 18 from 1 p.m. – 4 p.m. Ages 13+years welcome! This week of Summer Camp is all about fashion design! In this 1-week camp, teens will build skills and understanding so they can dive into their own fashion journey! Teens will learn how to use a dress form, how to read patterns, as well as the process of fashion sketching. They’ll explore the wide world of textiles, and during the week, each student will build their own skills binder that covers techniques like sewing seams, darts & more, that they’ll cover and learn during the course of the week.   • Learn to Weave with Silk! Saturday, March 15, 1-5 p.m. In instructor Jeanine Ertl’s class, students will weave together in a space of colorful creativity and openness. She will provide instruction on weaving, a warped lap loom and a rainbow of recycled sari silk ribbon and yarn fibers to ignite your imagination. And we’ll weave together, learning and playing with the basics of the process from start to finish, each creating a unique handwoven that can be hung or draped, according to your desires. Please feel free to bring any items you may want to incorporate into your weaving, like interesting fibers, foraged and gathered natural objects, shells with holes, beads, etc. you may want to incorporate into your weaving. Each Weaver will complete a one-of-a-kind Handwoven Wall Hanging. In addition, if you find that you’re in love with the practice, you will have an option to purchase the loom you are working with, as well as additional fiber and tools to continue at home. Come explore mindfully making in a space of creativity & harmony with others. No experience necessary.   • Upcycle Your Own Item! Learn to Carve & Block Print! Choose from upcoming dates: Thursday, March 6, 6-8 p.m. -or- Thursday, May 1, 6-8 p.m. Have you ever wanted to print your own designs on shirts and bags?! In this 2-hour workshop, you’ll learn the art of relief printing! Students will learn to design and carve their own linoleum stamp and block print an image onto fabric. We invite you to upcycle fabric from your own wardrobe or home for this class, so grab a well-loved favorite item or something that could use a fun refresh and begin imagining some fun designs you might carve and print! Because this class focuses on upcycling, please bring your own fabric to block print on. This can be clothing, a tote bag or something else. You may bring more than one item and the instructor can help you choose which to print on in class. We recommend you avoid fabrics that are especially thin, like satins and silks. All other tools and materials needed for this class will be supplied for use.   • Tuesdays, April 8, 15, 22, from 6-8 p.m. In this intermediate crochet series, Instructor Martina Villanueva will students will expand on stitches learned in our 3-Week Crochet Fundamentals series while teaching you how to create granny squares. Students will learn the fundamentals of crochet pattern reading, how to join granny squares, the many uses for, and how to get started on incorporating granny squares as building blocks for future projects. Students must have a working knowledge of single crochet (sc), half double crochet (hdc), double crochet (dc), chain (ch) and magic circle. Students are welcome to bring their own yarn and/or hook, but it is not necessary. We will be using size 4 yarn and between 4.00mm and 6.00mm crochet hooks. You don’t have to bring your own supplies but you are welcome to. This is an intermediate Crochet series. Students must have completed 3-Week Crochet Fundamentals or be proficient with single crochet, half double crochet, double crochet, chain and magic circle before beginning the series.
