Time for some fun! KPBS invites you to a night of mingling and team trivia, where you can show off your knowledge of all things public media. Our second annual trivia & mixer night will spark excitement and a sense of play as you compete over coveted KPBS swag. KPBS staff will take part in the fun too, serving as team captains, or team members. A dinner of pizza, salad, beer and wine will be available throughout the night. We encourage you to show off your holiday spirit by wearing your favorite holiday sweater!

In a ruling issued Friday, the 4th District Court of Appeal determined the city hadn't done its due diligence in completing an environmental study on the plan to raise the height limit in the neighborhood — part of an effort to greenlight the nearly $4 billion Midway Rising project.

Note: Though this class is offered as part of the Novel Writing Certificate Program, there is no pre-requisite to join this class. All students, members, and nonmembers are encouraged to enroll. If you have always wanted to write a novel but didn’t know where to start, this workshop will help you understand the process of writing a novel so you can get started putting pen to paper. In this six-week workshop, we will focus on everything from generating ideas to developing characters to establishing point of view. We will touch on many elements of fiction (dialogue, scene, etc.), but the emphasis will be on discovering the writing process that works best for you. Ideal for ages 8-12, students in this course will build essential sewing skills using both hand-sewing techniques and the sewing machine. Over six weeks, they’ll learn safety practices, stitching basics, machine navigation, and troubleshooting while growing confident in their technical abilities. As they explore idea development and practice foundational skills, students will create both functional and decorative pieces. The class wraps up with fun and functional final projects that showcase their creativity and growth. Downtown El Cajon will sparkle this holiday season with Holiday Lights in Downtown El Cajon on Saturday, November 29, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Families, friends, and neighbors are invited to gather for an evening filled with festive fun, live entertainment, and the magic of the season. The heart of Downtown El Cajon will transform into a winter wonderland where visitors can shop an artisan market featuring local vendors, experience the magic of a Snow Zone complete with Santa’s magic snow bubble machines, and enjoy a variety of kids activities throughout the night. Guests can take photos with Santa, listen to live music, and watch as the holiday tree comes to life during a special lighting ceremony led by Mayor Bill Wells at 6:15 p.m. Children will also delight in riding a trackless train through the beautifully decorated streets, adding to the evening’s holiday charm.
