  • The San Diego Early Music Society is thrilled to welcome back Stile Antico for the performance of their program "Palestrina in the Eternal City." The wonderful twelve-piece vocal ensemble will celebrate both its 20th season and Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina’s 500th birthday. The program explores the music Palestrina would have sung at the Sistine Chapel, the changes in his style demanded by the Counter-Reformation, his tragic personal life, and his influence on his successors. The repertoire is sumptuous, including several of Palestrina’s most beloved and timeless motets, gems by other leading composers active in Rome. The concert will be held at St. James by-the-Sea Episcopal Church on April 5th at 7:30 p.m. Tickets and additional information are available on the society’s website.
