Santee Discovery Day is a brand-new event hosted by the City of Santee and is an opportunity for all to enjoy the Walker Preserve Trail, Santee’s most family-friendly and a popular trail in San Diego County. The event will take place on Saturday, January 27 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Walker Preserve (9500 Magnolia Avenue, Santee). Interact with nature-themed booths and take in the scenery as the San Diego River spans the entire length of the trail. Participants can enter an opportunity drawing by collecting signatures at each booth on the passport card; stop by the City’s Information Booth to grab yours and embark on the journey with us! Grab a bite to eat from a local food truck while letting the kids master the rock wall. Attendees are encouraged to either park along Magnolia Avenue or Chubb Lane and walk to the west end of Walker Preserve to access the event.   • On Sunday, Jan. 21, 2024, the World Mission Society Church of God will host a Sock Drive event at 9230 Prospect Ave in Santee from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. This initiative aims to collect 4,048 new pairs of socks to distribute to individuals who need warm clothing during the winter. All donations will be distributed by the San Diego River Park Foundation. Community members are invited to bring donations and participate in games and family activities. All sock donations must be new with tags or in their original packaging. Volunteers from the World Mission Society Church of God will be on-site to receive donations and provide information about the organization's efforts to support the local community. The World Mission Society Church of God encourages the community to come together to make a difference in the lives of San Diegans.
