The exhibitions are part of a year-long exploration of the ways artists address the various socio-cultural wounds revealed by the COVID-19 pandemic. Similarly, the associated programs and events seek to explore how art can serve as a vital tool for mental, physical, emotional, and community wellbeing. Weekly Wellness Saturdays will take place most Saturdays throughout the year during ICA San Diego’s open hours (Noon – 5 p.m.), and includes: 1–2 p.m.: A rotating healing session hosted by a local facilitator 2:15–3:15 p.m.: A complimentary tour of the current exhibition in its Lower and Upper Pavilions, the outdoor garden, and Sculpture Trail 3:30–4:30 p.m.: A rotating healing session hosted by a local facilitator 12–5 p.m.: An all ages art-making activity related to this year’s "On Healing" season 12–5 p.m.: Complimentary admission to ICA / North’s exhibitions Admission to Weekly Wellness Saturdays at ICA / North is free, and a donation will be suggested for healing activities, and made directly to the facilitator. September 6: 1 p.m.: Breathwork with Suzanne Lederer — This practice helps you connect with the deeper layers of your mind and body, allowing you to bring awareness to and process emotions, stories, and even trauma that may have been stored or hidden in the body. (**Bring an eye cover and no heavy food 45 minutes before class. It makes it harder to breathe. For your safety, persons with the following conditions should not participate: If you are pregnant, you have a current diagnosis by a healthcare professional of (PTSD), Hospitalization for any psychiatric condition or emotional crisis during the past 10 years, Strokes, seizures, TIAs or other brain/neurological condition or disease.) 3:30 p.m.: Affirmations & Sound Healing with Ashley Murdock — Join us in the garden for an empowering combination of positive self-talk and sound healing. We’ll start by creating personal affirmations – positive statements that shift how you feel about yourself and reinforce your inner strength. Through guided meditation, you’ll practice and embed these affirmations, turning them into powerful tools for daily use. After building your affirmation practice, you’ll relax in the garden as crystal singing bowls, chimes, and rainstick create healing vibrations around you.
