Join us for the Holiday Marketplace at Mission Trails, a two-day event celebrating local artisans while supporting the mission of the Mission Trails Regional Park (MTRP) Foundation. Held at the Mission Trails Visitor Center on Saturday and Sunday, November 15–16, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., the Marketplace features a curated selection of handmade goods, from ceramics and jewelry to textiles, home goods, and gourmet treats. Vendors are selected for their sustainability efforts and nature-inspired designs, aligning with the park’s values. Best of all, 30% of every vendor’s gross sales goes directly to the MTRP Foundation, helping to preserve and protect one of San Diego’s most cherished natural spaces. Admission is free, and all ages are welcome (please leave pets at home). The event is cashless—only card and Apple Pay will be accepted. Complimentary shuttle service will be available from overflow parking areas, and guests are encouraged to explore alternative park entrances, such as East and West Fortuna Staging Areas, Old Mission Dam, and Kumeyaay Lake Campground. This free, all-ages event invites the public to experience an evening of art, live music, and community. For more than 20 years, Distinction Gallery has been a beacon of the Southern California art scene, specializing in representational painting—ranging from surrealism and realism to figurative works. ViralBoa, one of the gallery’s represented artists, has hand-selected an exceptional group of creators for this show, featuring Cherry Gunk, Kai Lun Qu, Ivan Flores, Kate Kennedy, Nonie Cruzado, Eric Johnson and Cole Mattingly. Guests aged 21 and over can also enjoy drinks available for purchase from Last Spot Bar during the event. Last Spot Bar has a curated selection of wine, beer, sake, cider and non-alcoholic options. This body of work explores the unintended beauty found in convex security mirrors, those circular sentinels fixed to corners, ceilings, and alleyways. Captured in stark black and white, these 80 photographs are not just reflections of the physical world, but portals into the unnoticed layers of modern life. Framed by the curve of the mirror, the city folds into itself, distorted, duplicated, isolated. In every image, I invite the viewer to pause, to see not just what is reflected, but how we are reflected. These mirrors do not protect or judge; they simply witness. Through this project, I am asking a quiet question: When we see ourselves being seen, what is revealed? Why choose The Metta Space to feature your art collection? Trinity Theatre Company is thrilled to announce their Grown Up Stage’s production of "IFs (Imaginary Friends)" by Thomas J. Misuraca running from November 28th - December 14th. The production is directed by Mia Spencer. "IFs (Imaginary Friends)" runs at Trinity’s Mission Valley location in the Mission Valley Mall. She laments with her other recently released imaginary friends, knowing unless something changes, they’ll cease to exist. When their peer Dab, confesses that he’s been hanging out with an older woman who can see him, the others want to meet her. Bea ends up only able to see Pippin, but introduces them to some of her senior friends, and all but one imaginary friend now have real friends once again. But dealing with older friends has its challenges. Bea’s daughter, Jenna, is overly concerned for her mother. Even more so after Bea breaks her hip while “playing” with her friends. As Bea’s health continues to decline, her friends must fight for their rights as older folks. Trinity Theatre Artistic Director, Sean Boyd shared “We are big fans of Thomas Miscuraca’s work at Trinity Theatre Company and have shared a number of his pieces over the years including 'The Stark Truth of Humanity' and 'A Good Game.' In April of this year - we presented a staged reading of 'IFs (Imaginary Friends)' in our third annual New Works Festival. This wonderfully heartfelt and moving piece was so strong and well received - that we wanted to see it really on its feet - and programmed it into our season. It is thrilling to be a part of the trajectory of the development of exciting new work. We look forward to sharing 'IFs (Imaginary Friends)' with our community.” Playwright Thomas J. Miscuraca added "'IFs (Imaginary Friends)' holds a special place in my heart because it's about the older generation using their imagination to tap into their youth.
