The Blazing Laptops Write-a-thon is THE big annual fundraiser for San Diego Writers, Ink (SDWI). Discover the tactile and expansive art of bookbinding, a medium that lends itself to various art practices. The class will enfold basic methods of bookbinding, where students will learn multiple processes of stitching and folding. Students will walk away from the class with multiple books to fill up however they please, ending the class with one simple fully realized book project. Although students may have bookbinding experience, this course assumes no formal training in the arts. Ahoy, matey! The nautical-clad “Titans of Soft Rock,” Yachtley Crew, will be dropping anchor in San Diego this July to launch ArtPower’s summer season. In this workshop, students will learn the art of editing their memoir including identifying what and where to cut to streamline the plot. Students will also learn how the revising process works so that they will be able to create a product that will excel in the marketplace. Peer editing will be utilized to assist the student in completing a first rough draft of their memoir. Students will be given an overview of the publishing options available to them including special guests (top professionals in the field) that will offer the most current and compelling information about publishing/self-publishing in today’s memoir marketplace.
