Teens ages 11+ can create a small rug from scratch! Rugs have a deep history as textile art and as objects that create specific spaces. Using handheld tufting machines, participants can create and design their rugs using colorful yarn. This is a two-part class! In this first session, learn how to create and translate a design for the medium, learn the basics of tufting, and begin filling in your designs. Water for People San Diego Committee along with Avista and KSDS Jazz 88.3 are proud to present Jazz on Tap 2025, a charity Jazz concert to support Water For People, a global nonprofit promoting the development of high-quality drinking water and sanitation services. The jazz festival will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2025 at the Quartyard. Doors open at 1:15 p.m., with live music starting at 2 p.m. grooving away until 8 p.m. There will be food, drinks and live high-energy jazz music, highlighting local artists in a fun outdoor setting. Any remaining tickets will be sold at the door for $45 each. By honoring and supporting Black-owned businesses in the North County region, we aim to foster an environment where inclusivity thrives, and everyone feels welcome. This celebration is an opportunity for individuals and families of all backgrounds to learn, engage, and connect with the rich American history that shapes our shared future. Together, we can celebrate the strength and unity of our community, while creating a space where all are invited to grow, contribute, and make a difference. It is presented and hosted by Lionel and Natalie Saulsberry of the Couples Unfiltered Podcast/LLC in partnership with Clinton and Renee Huggins of AIM achievementinmotion.org We will host an opening ceremony with an MC, the Black National Anthem, the National Anthem, a Marine Corps Color Guard, a speaker and prayer. Then kick off the event with a DJ, keynote speakers and love music. 25-30 unique vendors from all over North County, San Diego and L.A. will be positioned for your shopping and engagement pleasure. We will be offering a special paid entry ticketed VIP section of the event where we will showcase local Black Executive Chefs from all over the county, serving small bites, as well as providing Zero-Proof Bartending services. The tickets include entry to this VIP section of the event, photo ops and swag bags. Tickets sales will be announced closer to the end of May. The proceeds of the sales will be donated to two local non-profit organizations participating in the event. Jean Guerrero is a former KPBS reporter with extensive experience covering Latin America. Her KPBS reporting focused on family separations at the border, Trump's wall, deportations, and migrant caravan. Her work was recognized by the San Diego Press Club, the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences - Pacific Southwest Chapter, and the Society for Professional Journalists, including "Best Body Of Work" in 2018.

She started her career at the Wall Street Journal and Dow Jones Newswires in Mexico City as a foreign correspondent. She won the PEN/FUSION Emerging Writers Prize in 2016. Her book "Crux: A Cross-Border Memoir" was published in 2018 by One World (Random House).

Jean holds a B.A. in journalism and a minor in neuroscience from the University of Southern California. She also has an MFA degree in creative nonfiction from Goucher College.
