Tea By The Sea returns for its 13th year! Set against the iconic Marine Room in La Jolla, this special afternoon will have breathtaking oceanfront views paired with traditional tea service. All in support of an inspiring cause, guests can expect tea service complemented by signature cocktails, assorted bites and hors d’oeuvres, live music, opportunity drawings, and shopping from Sophie’s Gallery. Guests are encouraged to attend in their favorite tea-time attire. Gentlemen are welcome. All proceeds from the event benefit the Sophie’s Gallery and Art Program in Downtown El Cajon, a space where adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities can explore their creativity while working in a professional art environment alongside friends. Family Art Adventures are dynamic free guided tours specially designed for families with school-aged children ages 5 to 12. Tours are offered the first and third Saturdays of each month at 10:30 a.m. Family tour themes change monthly, and each family tour is followed by a hands-on art-making activity. Join Museum educators for a special workshop inspired by the practice of sobremesa, cherished by artist Alfredo Castañeda. "Sobremesa" refers to the moments when a meal extends into lingering conversation, when guests talk, listen to music, and reflect on life and ideas. This workshop invites participants to gather in community, engage in both prompted and organic conversation, and take part in an art-making activity inspired by Castañeda’s work and practice.
