From international to local, twenty-six (26) participating purveyors of delicious tastes, including long established and very new arrivals in Mission Hills, will be featured at the 11th Annual Taste of Mission Hills happening on Wednesday, October 11, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. And, included in the price of each TASTE ticket is trolley transportation to within steps of each participating venue. The more than 5 mile taste route includes locations on West Lewis Street, Ft. Stockton Drive, Goldfinch Street, West Washington Street, Reynard Way and India Street, and promises the 11th Annual Taste of Mission Hills will be the taste to remember in 2023! Taste of Mission Hills is hosted by the Mission Hills Business Improvement District and it is the annual fundraiser for this non-profit organization. This year’s Title Sponsor is US Bank, Mission Hills branch whose generous donation supports the growth of the event and helps keep ticket prices low. Again this year, Old Town Trolley service is being offered freely to TASTE ticket holders due to generous TASTE Trolley sponsorships from Marea Riedler, Founder-Principal Designer at A Designed Space, John Ealy owner of Harley Gray Kitchen & Bar, and Hailey and Merritte Powell owners of La Puerta Mission Hills. The trolley stops are listed on the back of each ticket. Every fifteen minutes a trolley will pick up and drop off at each designated TASTE trolley stop. Purchasing in advance at one of the above locations will allow ticket holders to avoid picking up tickets at WILL CALL on the date of the event. *Tickets purchased with a credit card will include a small processing fee. Join us at the Visitor Center to learn what it means to build a natural garden that is beautiful, sustainable, and functional, and how to do it. A well-planned garden can be a representation of nature and continually provide valuable habitat for birds, beneficial pollinators, and other wildlife species. Mike Evans, an authority on California native plants, will be at Mission Trails to discuss the important role that native plants can play in home landscapes, and share ideas on how to bring the beauty of the park to your yard. Emphasis will be on how to design a home garden that incorporates native plants found in the park. Come hear the practical "how-to" for making or caring for your very own "re-wild" garden. Mike Evans is the founder and president of Tree of Life Nursery (TOLN) in San Juan Capistrano and has produced and sold California native plants for 45 years. TOLN is the largest native plant supplier in California and promotes a style of authentic horticulture, specifically the concept of appropriate landscaping with native California plants. The Escondido Creek Conservancy, a non-profit organization, invites you to a family-friendly outdoor festival at the gorgeous Mountain Meadow Preserve in Hidden Meadows. Join us for a day filled with nature-based activities suitable for all ages and physical abilities; the schedule of activities is on the registration site. For those who prefer a leisurely experience, please relax on the Conservancy's veranda with a good book or explore nature-based booths to learn more about local flora and fauna. Others can join the Conservancy on an interpretive hike to get their steps in for the day while they learn about the Conservancy's work to preserve and restore the Escondido Creek watershed. There will also be a silent auction! The cost is $50 for individuals, $75 for couples, and $100 for a family of four. Children 5 and under are free. A healthy lunch is included in your ticket price. Your ticket to this event is a contribution to our fundraising efforts, supporting the crucial work of Conservancy educators in providing outdoor learning opportunities. This event serves as a fundraiser for the Conservancy's outdoor education programs benefiting youth and adults in North County.
