Since 2022, Curebound’s signature benefit concert series has raised more than $8.5 million to support innovative cancer research. Curebound announced that legendary music artist, humanitarian, and global superstar, Elton John will headline the 2025 Concert for Cures on Friday, May 9, at Petco Park to raise awareness and funds for cutting-edge cancer research. Since its launch in 2022, Concert for Cures has raised more than $8.5 million to support early-phase adult and pediatric cancer research among Southern California’s top research institutions. Previous headliners include Alicia Keys with the San Diego Symphony Orchestra and Ed Sheeran performing to sold-out crowds at the Rady Shell at Jacobs Park. This year, Concert for Cures expands to Petco Park for an extraordinary night of music, hope, and accelerated impact in the fight against cancer. To date, Curebound has invested over $45 million in collaborative research grants. One of the top-selling solo artists of all time with more than 300 million records worldwide, Elton John has been honoured with six GRAMMYs, a Tony, two Oscars, induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and the Songwriters Hall of Fame, a Kennedy Center Honor, Legend of Live Award, and a knighthood from Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II for “services to music and charitable services”. In January 2024, Elton John joined Hollywood’s elite group of EGOT winners after securing an EMMY Award for his historic Disney+ live concert special Elton John Live: Farewell from Dodger Stadium. Most recently, Elton and GRAMMY-winning singer-songwriter Brandi Carlile received an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Song for "Never Too Late," featured in his documentary "Elton John: Never Too Late," now streaming on Disney+. Explore ceramic handbuilding & funky glazes! From 6-8:30 p.m., with the last class of the series from 6-9 p.m. Wednesdays, January 8, 15, 22, 29, February 12 In this 5-week series, students will learn the basics of handbuilding to create functional pieces with an emphasis on decorative techniques. Working with mid fire clay, we will explore various methods of building forms and decorative techniques with underglazes, slips, glaze, and various experimental materials. Students will complete multiple projects throughout the course with an artistic and creative approach to decorative designs. Inspired by printmaking, painting and drawing, we will explore image transfers, mark making, layering, stencils, and more! Through the use of technique and materials, students will explore the fusion of 2D art and 3D form. Students will be able to utilize a wide array of glazes and colors through the course. The instructor will have a wide array of custom decorative materials for use and sale. All materials provided. Additional materials available via the instructor for a fee. "Dreamscape: Beyond the Veil" invites viewers to contemplate how dreams shape our understanding and experience of the world. Highlighting symbolic explorations of the natural and mythical, this exhibition promises a captivating encounter with the world of the unconscious. This intriguing and engaging exhibition was developed under the guidance of Professor Alessandra Moctezuma and Gallery Coordinator Jenny Armer. As the documentary opens, Morrison faces his greatest challenge: his eyesight is fading fast, and he has one more major painting to complete.

Join us for a captivating evening with the Pacific Trio, featuring three distinguished masters of traditional Chinese instruments and repertoire—David Liu on zheng (a plucked zither), Celia Liu on pipa (a plucked lute), and Qi-Chao Liu on dizi (a bamboo transverse flute). Together, they bring the rich soundscape of traditional Chinese music to life, blending classical techniques and repertoire with their own unique artistry. From the delicate tones of the zheng to the vibrant melodies of the pipa and the expressive voice of the dizi, the Trio’s performance will provide a glimpse of the beauty and depth of the Chinese musical heritage. About the artists: The Pacific Trio is composed of three Los Angeles-based artists, all among the finest Chinese musicians of their generation living in the United States. David Chu-Yao Liu (zheng) studied under famous zheng masters and graduated from the Taiwan National Academy of the Arts. He has performed all over the world and in 1989 founded the Zheng Hsin Chinese Zither Orchestra of Los Angeles. Celia Liu graduated from the Central Conservatory of Music in China and worked at the National Orchestra in Beijing. She won the award for “Most Excellent Performance” at the Art Cup international competition. She was invited to perform with the LA Philharmonic Orchestra and recorded over a hundred soundtracks for movies and TV series with Warner Brothers Nickelodeon “Kung Fu Panda”. Qi-Chao Liu (dizi), musicologist, educator, and bandleader, is an accomplished performer on a wide variety of Chinese instruments. He graduated from the Shanghai Conservatory of Traditional and Western Music and, in 1997, was invited to attend the Asian Pacific Performance Exchange Fellowship Program through UCLA.
