  • Second Chance Community Day is an opportunity for individuals, families, and friends to come together and learn about the products and resources offered by local businesses and organizations, including information and access to health and wellness resources. In October, Community Day will be celebrating a Halloween-themed extravaganza! The event will feature live music from DJ Noel, fresh produce for purchase, exceptional local vendors from Southeastern San Diego, exciting crafts and Halloween games for the little ones, and Trunk-or-Treating. Costumes are encouraged. The event also promotes the Project New Village fresh produce truck that is featured at Second Chance each community day. Both artists will be present to speak about their creative processes. With the expanded UC San Diego Blue Line from UTC to San Ysidro, and new free Park & Ride locations, San Diego MTS has made it easier for patrons to enjoy a Camarada concert without the hassle of parking. Fares are typically $5 roundtrip and free parking is offered at the Old Town station.
  • Queen Bee’s Art and Culture Center, a community space and beacon for artists in North Park, San Diego, is thrilled to be celebrating its 15th anniversary this year. At the forefront of enriching the vibrant arts and culture scene in San Diego, Queen Bee’s has served as a nurturing haven where artistry flourishes, allowing for creatives of all walks of life to come together to express their talents in a welcoming community. Since 2008, Queen Bee’s has faced many challenges and achievements, and now, the community is invited to commemorate this anniversary milestone with a celebration on Tuesday, December 12 at 12:00 p.m. The donation-based community event will feature food and drinks, live performances from artists such as Rudy Francisco, Gilbert Castellanos, Mercedes Moore, Zzymzzy Quartet and Gregory Page, along with a proclamation from San Diego Mayor Todd Gloria. At 6:00 p.m., attendees are encouraged to grab their dancing shoes and participate in swing dancing classes featuring live swing music. The evening will be a night to remember! The donation-based event is open to the public and attendees must RSVP here. Queen Bee’s will be taking donations to be able to continue to support the arts for years to come.   • The San Diego Angel Conference (SDAC) in partnership with The Brink SBDC offers the Entrepreneurs Track (E-Track), a free 4-month workshop series for entrepreneurs to develop, explore, and refine the fundamentals required to prepare for angel investment. Join us for our Kick-Off event and a Mixer hosted by the San Diego Entrepreneurs Exchange (SDEE) on Sept 12 at the University of San Diego (USD). Each week, founders gather, network, and explore topics critical to successfully raising money from angel investors. The Entrepreneurs Track culminates with the application deadline on Dec. 19, 2023. Those who apply will compete for a $200,000* investment from ~60 SEC accredited investors. *Amount of investment depends on the number of units purchased by investors. During this session we will cover the important dates and details of SDAC VI, answer questions, and cover two important topics: 1) Positioning and Value Proposition, and 2) Use of Funds/Ask (the last slide in an investment deck). Attendees will complete a positioning statement focused on the value proposition, and identify the potential risks and resources required to mitigate risks and position your company for success.

  • TERI Campus of Life, whose mission is to change the way the world sees, helps, and empowers individuals with special needs, is thrilled to announce that AMERICAN IDOL contender and indie rock sensation, Adin Boyer, along with special guests Jungle Poppins, will perform live at their Rock the Spectrum Benefit Concert. This event will take place on Dec. 29, 2023 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at TERI’s San Marcos Campus of Life (Cornfeather Suite/Mountain View Deck, 555 Deer Springs Rd, San Marcos, CA 92069). All proceeds will benefit TERI Campus of Life programs and services for children, adults, and seniors with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Guests will experience a magical evening of music under the stars as they bid farewell to 2023, celebrating with the talented pianist and San Diego's own Jungle Poppins. Both gifted artists credit autism as their catalyst to excellence and are geared up to “Rock the Spectrum.” Adin, an exceptional musician and advocate for Autism and Anti-Bullying, will open hearts with soulful melodies while Jungle Poppins vows to "let music upstage autism." In 2023, Adin wowed audiences on American Idol, advancing to Hollywood and earning accolades from industry icons Lionel Richie, Katy Perry, Luke Bryan, and mentor Phillip Phillips. TERI is honored to host Adin in his first San Diego show prior to launching his national tour. Tickets to the concert start at $25 for general admission and $50 for VIP.
