  • In this 2-hour class, sewist Paige Plihal guides students through a complete introduction to the sewing machine. You will learn on our studio’s computerized machines, the Pfaff Ambition 610. Please note, if bringing your own sewing machine, it is very important to make sure it is fully functional before class. Whether you’ve never touched a sewing machine before or need a refresher after time away, this introductory class is designed to give you a solid foundational understanding of how to use a sewing machine so that you can step into our project-based classes with confidence. You’ll learn how to wind a bobbin; thread the machine; adjust stitch length/width; use decorative stitches; sew gentle curves; pivot and turn corners (on the machine and with the iron); and experiment with buttonholes and elastic. You’ll leave with a stitch sampler notebook cover and inner journal so you can take notes through the class and leave with a tactile reminder of your new skills! This class is ideal for ages 12+, 8-12yrs can attend with a dedicated adult helper. All materials included.
