Kalei’s Kitchenette, a family-owned Pacific Rim cuisine business and partner of national restaurant incubator FOODWORKS, is excited to announce their official grand opening of their first brick-and-mortar location in Rancho Peñasquitos, at 9926-F Carmel Mountain Road on Saturday, June 24. The grand opening celebrations will kick off at 10 a.m. with a traditional ti leaf ribbon-cutting ceremony, accompanied by local dignitaries and community stakeholders. The festivities will continue with live hula dancers, raffles, and more, including small bites and giveaways from local small businesses such as Kapu Coffee and TEJO desserts, to pair with Kalei’s extensive menu of large and a la carte plates. Kalei’s is also excited to introduce new food specials to their menu this weekend, which will rotate on a recurring weekly basis throughout the year. Originally opened as a stall at a local farmer’s market, Kalei’s Kitchenette is a love letter to Pacific Rim culture created by husband-wife duo Chef Andy and Khara Mangiduyos. The Maui native uses local, fresh ingredients to serve Asian and Pacific classics like Huli Huli chicken, Loco Moco, Spam Musubi and Kalei’s signature Garlic Chicken. Kalei’s Kitchenette is a small business partner of FOODWORKS, a restaurant and small business incubator founded by John Coker under global food service leader Compass Group. FOODWORKS helps small businesses – especially those owned by women and minorities like Kalei’s Kitchenette – attain the resources needed to grow in a highly competitive industry throughout all regions in the United States. Kalei’s Kitchenette will be open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. through 6 p.m. and will offer signature dishes by Chef Mangiduyos, ready-to-eat meals, and easy catering solutions.
