Young Writers’ Camp is a 10-day summer program designed to inspire creative thinking and promote a love of writing. Campers will experiment with different kinds of writing for a variety of audiences and purposes. San Diego Area Writing Project teachers share the belief that writing is a process. Young Writers’ Camp engages students in that process and allows them to discover their own style, voice and potential and nurture joy in their writing. Our goal is that each young writer, regardless of skill level, has the time and space to experiment in a variety of genres while developing creativity and confidence. Are you a middle schooler interested in 3D design? In this class, learn how to create a custom 3D model using the web-based modeling platform, Tinkercad. Students will begin by designing a personalized keychain with their name, and will then design fun summer-themed shapes—just in time for the season! This project gives students a chance to explore the basic shape inventory and the scribble feature on Tinkercad. It also helps familiarize students with the Tinkercad interface, preparing them to tackle more advanced designs in future classes.
