The Fleet Science Center offers Science Clubs for grades 5-8! Investigate exciting science topics on the second weekend of each month. Each session will be filled with new challenges, hands-on activities that can be done using materials found in your home and has challenges for students of all ages. Through this program students will explore an array of fields including biology, chemistry, engineering, environmental science, physics, robotics and much more! In conversation with SDMA’s curator of South Asian and Islamic art, Ebtekar will discuss his artistic practice through a selection of work from the past fifteen years, including three important pieces currently on display in the Museum’s galleries of the Arts of Iran and the Americas, and a major commission for the Asian Art Museum in San Francisco. Ebtekar and Akbarnia will also share some preliminary thoughts about the artist’s upcoming commission for SDMA’s 2024 exhibition, Wonders of Creation: Art, Science, and the Islamic World, on the intersection of art, science, and Islam.
