The Home of Guiding Hands (HGH), a San Diego nonprofit organization that provides quality support for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, will host its 14th Annual Randy Jones Run/Walk for Independence starting at 8 a.m. on Saturday, March 2 at Crown Point Park. Former San Diego Padre and National League CY Young Award winner, Randy Jones, is set to unite once again with the Home of Guiding Hands, extending support to more than 4,500 infants, adolescents, and adults with developmental disabilities during this 5k (approximately 3 miles) run/walk event. Check-in opens at 8 a.m., with races kicking off at 9 a.m. Participants will have the opportunity to meet and greet with Jones throughout the event. John and Tammy from "San Diego's Morning Show" on KSON 103.7 will also join as the Masters of Ceremonies. The Annual Randy Jones Run/Walk for Independence is dedicated to raising funds for HGH programs to provide care for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The Home of Guiding Hands believes that every person deserves to live the life of their choosing. Dr. Pinar Yoldas discusses her award-winning nature-based design, including her creation, “Hollow Ocean,” which was selected for the 2021 Venice Biennale. Moving beyond prototypes, Pinar Yoldas envisions and builds “ecotypes.” Integrating drawing and sculpture with bio-engineering centered around the climate crisis, Dr. Yoldas works in the mixed realm of architecture, design and speculative biology. Pinar Yoldas is an associate professor at UC San Diego as well as the recipient of a Guggenheim Fellowship, a Creative Capital Grant and is the author of An Ecosystem of Excess. She works in between architecture, design and the biological sciences, creating a mix of architectural installations, kinetic sculptures and media. Her work has been featured in Arte TV, Die Welt, The Creators Project, Art21 Blog, Der Spiegel, Vogue Turkey and Artlink BioArt issue, to name a few.

The Elizabeth Hospice is hosting a monthly walk for people grieving the loss of a loved one. Grief Walk will take place at Lake Murray located at 5540 Kiowa Drive, La Mesa, CA 91942 on Saturday, January 20, 2024 and Saturday, March 30, 2024 at 9:30 a.m. This easy-paced walking group offers participants an opportunity to share with others, walk in silence, or dedicate the walk to a loved one. Jenna Waters, a certified grief educator, will facilitate the experience. Participants will meet at 9:30 a.m. There’s no cost to attend and is open to everyone in the community.
