Over the course of four weeks, you will learn various techniques that will help you add beautiful, flowing, and decorative flourishes to your writing. You will be guided through a range of techniques, including adding swashes, embellishing letters, and using curves to create movement and compositional flow.   • Carla is responsible for the planning and execution of KPBS events. She joined the marketing and communications department in 2009 and coordinates receptions, screening events, and KPBS staff events. In addition, she works on annual events such as the GI Film Festival San Diego- a multi-day event showcasing films for, by, and about the military and veteran experience, as well as KPBS' participation in Explore SDSU and quarterly member-only events. Carla started at KPBS in 2001 as a production coordinator in video production services where she assisted clients with video productions. She also managed production for station grant projects including Q Kids and The Mortgage Crisis. Carla earned her degree in filmmaking and child development from Hampshire College and began her non-profit career at Sesame Workshop (Children’s Television Workshop at the time) in their international production department. Born in South Africa, raised on three different continents, Carla has called San Diego home since 2000.

It all comes down to exactly how to load your brush and then apply that to your surface. I will show you how to get that opaque look using a series of basic strokes that you build up together to get one cohesive look. In this class, you will learn how to use a Round 2 brush for every stroke. We will practice on my special reusable worksheets, and then move on to our project surface of tiny canvases to create magnets that will showcase your work. No previous experience with fragrance making is required. During the workshop, you will create your own signature scent using a variety of essential oils and fragrance notes provided by our French Perfume Designer, Jil Croquet. You will learn about Perfume composition, have fun smelling and enter the very secretive world of Perfume Formulation. You will learn how to blend and balance scents, as well as the basics of perfume making techniques. All materials and tools will be provided, and the cost of materials is included in the workshop fee.
