  • One of the primary ways we generate support to provide rigorous science programming to kids in the City Heights community is through our annual fundraiser – the Bubble Up! Gala. This black-tie affair is attended by 300 leaders in the San Diego business, philanthropic, and scientific communities. To inspire the next generation of science leaders, Ocean Discovery Institute creates learning experiences for young people traditionally excluded from science due to race, income status, and educational opportunity. Our students will join high-paying fields, break generational poverty, and change the future of science. Bubble Up! Reimagined will be attended by more than 200 leaders in the San Diego business, philanthropic, and scientific communities. The event itself consists of a “mix & mingle” portion of the evening where Board Members, donors, and Ocean Leader alums will have the opportunity to enjoy awesome food and drink while circulating and building authentic relationships with one another and have the chance to win an exciting Opportunity Drawing prize. Following, guests will join us for a powerful program beginning with a live auction with exciting trips and experiences (visit the website to preview these items), student-centered story-telling, and ending with our “Make A Difference” paddle raise, where guests will have the opportunity to empower the next generation of science leaders through a direct donation to the organization.
