  • The Old Globe is thrilled to announce that the popular event Thinking Shakespeare Live!, directed by the Globe’s Erna Finci Viterbi Artistic Director Barry Edelstein, will be held on Saturday, June 7, 2025 at 11 a.m. on the Donald and Darlene Shiley Stage in the Old Globe Theatre, part of the Globe’s Conrad Prebys Theatre Center. Priority seating goes on sale to Globe subscribers and donors on Friday, April 4 at Noon, with sales to the general public beginning on Friday, April 18 at Noon, and will be available online at TheOldGlobe.org. Drawn from Edelstein’s approachable and inviting book "Thinking Shakespeare: A How-To Guide for Student Actors, Directors, and Anyone Else Who Wants to Feel More Comfortable with the Bard," Thinking Shakespeare Live! will feature Edelstein, who will be joined by three professional classical actors. Immediately after the event, Edelstein will sign copies of his book, which will be available for purchase at the theatre. This program is an ideal introduction to Shakespeare for families and young audiences, as well as an exciting new look at the playwright for Bardophiles.   • On Saturday, October 19, more than 1,000 Vista Unified students will perform and student art projects from each of Vista Unified School District’s 28 schools will be featured as part of the 20th annual Vista Unified Festival of the Arts. The festival will take place across the Vista Village area downtown on Main Street. Student performances will include several schools’ Ballet Folklorico groups, student choirs, bands, theater, and dance ensembles. Visual arts will be on display as well, featuring painting, drawing, ceramics, photography, and more. The festival is an example of the district’s deep commitment to the arts and providing students with opportunities in the visual and performing arts.
