A sensory friendly experience at the Museum Sensory Friendly Mornings is held quarterly on select Saturdays from 9 a.m. - 11 a.m. This program is intended for families who would enjoy and appreciate a quieter Museum experience with fewer guests and less stimulation than our general museum hours offer. Our interactive art installations vary from high-sensory activities to designated sensory-break zones that provide a range of experiences for families to enjoy with comfort and safety. Join the Old Town San Diego community in celebrating the 67th Annual Las Posadas on Dec 13, 2025, from 5 -7 p.m.! This year’s posada will be held in within the main plaza of Old Town San Diego State Historic Park and will be presented by the Old Town San Diego Chamber of Commerce and Mormon Batallion Historic Site. Bundle up and gather as we recreate the timeless story of Mary and Joseph’s journey, complete with a joyful community procession, live nativity, and beautiful holiday choirs filling the plaza with festive sound. After the main event, warm up next to the bonfire in the plaza and enjoy hot coco provided by Fiesta de Reyes and smores provided by the Boosters of Old Town. Make a commemorative tin ornament at our hands-on art activity station and explore La Casa de Machado y Silvas adobe for a photo opportunity next to our traditional tree. Ideal for ages 8-12, students in this course will build essential sewing skills using both hand-sewing techniques and the sewing machine. Over six weeks, they’ll learn safety practices, stitching basics, machine navigation, and troubleshooting while growing confident in their technical abilities. As they explore idea development and practice foundational skills, students will create both functional and decorative pieces. The class wraps up with fun and functional final projects that showcase their creativity and growth.
