This year’s theme, Design for Impact, is all about harnessing the power of design to create bold, purposeful solutions that strengthen communities, spark innovation, and deliver lasting change. Join us for the "ReVision: An Inclusive Studio & Artmaking Experience" pop-up exhibition and be part of the region’s premier design festival. ReVision is a shared studio space that supports and centers disabled artists, and is built on the belief that everyone and everything has purpose. We are opening our Hillcrest studio on Saturday, September 20 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. to invite you to participate in pop-up artmaking experiences inspired by our resident artists, see their work, and learn about our collaborative community projects like the Waterfront Park “Inclusion Mural” and “First Fridays” workshop series. Explore your own authentic, bold voice by trying selected art-making methods of our resident artists in our "_____________ by Design" pop-up exhibition, and discover their unique journeys with experience stations mirroring our signature peer-to-peer learning style. Collect references for your personal design practice of bold color and expressive mark making, purposeful re-use of unconventional materials, and the tactile, somatic experience of creation. Customize repurposed and recycled community materials with your own slogans and style, with the option to make and take. • Upcycle Your Own Item! Learn to Carve & Block Print! Choose from: Thursday, October 2, 6-8 p.m. or Thursday, November 6, 6-8 p.m. Have you ever wanted to print your own designs on shirts and bags?! In this 2-hour workshop, you’ll learn the art of relief printing! Students will learn to design and carve their own linoleum stamp and block print an image onto fabric. We invite you to upcycle fabric from your own wardrobe or home for this class, so grab a well-loved favorite item or something that could use a fun refresh and begin imagining some fun designs you might carve and print! Because this class focuses on upcycling, please bring your own fabric to block print on. This can be clothing, a tote bag or something else. You may bring more than one item and the instructor can help you choose which to print on in class. We recommend you avoid fabrics that are especially thin, like satins and silks. All other tools and materials needed for this class will be supplied for use. This class is appropriate for ages 14 years and older. • Military, first responders and sibling discounts. • Scholarships available. • Homeschool funds accepted. • If this class is full, join the Interest List to be notified. • If you would like to be notified of future offerings, join the Interest List to be notified when new dates or spaces are available.
