In this film, Taylor Lane, an impassioned surfer, creates a functional surfboard with 10,000 littered cigarette butts collected from California beaches. “The Cigarette Surfboard” takes Lane around the world to learn from professional surfers who are working to protect and restore the health of the oceans through science, education, art, business, and political activism. Inspired by this global cast of characters, Lane returns home to California and uses the board to generate uproar on the environmental, human health, and economic impacts of cigarette butts. This immersive documentary gives viewers an up-close experience of the ocean through surfers' eyes to amplify a message of urgency and possibility regarding the well-being of our oceans. A moderated Q&A with Lane and filmmaker Ben Judkins will follow the screening. Doors will open at 5 p.m. for the Ciggy Board exhibit and refreshments. The Old Globe premieres of "Huzzah!" next week, a new musical that combines song, dance and swordplay.

"Walking In Beauty, Life as Ceremony" is a new exhibition at the Bonita Museum and Cultural Center from November 8 - 30, 2025, displaying information about missing and murdered indigenous women. Organized and curated by Artivists Way of the Sacred Mountain organization, Teyana Viscarra and Norm Sands with Heather Gallana, Indigenous Cultures Educator at the museum. The Honoring Ceremonies with blessings will take place on Saturday, November 8, 2025 from 4 p.m. – 8 p.m. Way of the Sacred Mountain is an Indigenous-led, grassroots partnership that breaks the silence on the brutal truths of the past and the continuing injustices of the present. Through the exhibition, the artivists hope to raise awareness of crucial issues impacting Indian Country, especially the crisis of MMIW, Missing and Murdered Indigenous Warriors. They provide a safe space and a call for healing through prayer, action, and remembrance. This is a free public exhibition and event. During the Opening Ceremony on November 8, visitors will experience Kumeyaay culture as well as crafts and food. The Bonita Museum & Cultural Center is excited to bring back an event that highlights local restaurants and chefs in the Sweetwater Valley. This signature fundraising event supports free educational and public programs for over 5000 school children and community members in the South Bay. During the event, enjoy visiting the museum at night and learning about South Bay San Diego art, history and culture. Bonita is located in a rural unincorporated part of San Diego County nestled in the Sweetwater River Valley. Find out about the rustic character of the valley through artifacts and history objects in the museum. Nearly 1,000 acres of the valley are permanently preserved as open space, including much of the riverbed. Several stables operate in the valley and horses are not an uncommon site on the miles of trails that crisscross the valley.
