As I write this, I'm watching the primary returns from North Carolina and Indiana, and it's apparent that some of the network anchors and their & "experts" hang onto racist and sexist rhetoric in spite of the fact that much of the American population appears to have moved past it.

Raymond Lutz, who is a candidate for California Assembly District 77, actively opposed Blackwater's presence in Potrero. His website,

There is no doubt that the climate is in absolute peril and that we citizens are responsible for doing what we can to change this. But we cannot work alone. We must have thoughtful, enlightened leadership to pass supportive legislation requiring industry to do the same.

In the background, you could hear people in the Seattle office laughing and kvetching throughout her announcement. Of course no one in the San Diego office could respond because it was a "listen only" call. All they could do is silently listen, some with tears streaming down their faces, while Corporate yucked it up.

For one, there was slavery, where the importation of humans to be owned as property was deemed lawful.

I saw how much a tonsillectomy cost in 1958, how much my braces set her back. I saw how by the end of the month, the grocery checks got smaller and smaller as the allotment ran out. I also saw, with chagrin, how many times she & ldquo;bailed me out & rdquo; as a young adult, long after I had left home(generosities I had long forgotten). As I laughed and cried over these checks, I was grateful to have this record of my parent's life.
