San Diego County public health officials reported 819 new COVID-19 cases and 12 additional deaths associated with the virus in their latest data.

"With omicron on the rise, we're taking immediate actions to protect Californians and ensure our hospitals are prepared," said Gov. Gavin Newsom.

San Diego Mayor Todd Gloria Tuesday said he agreed with the President Joe Biden's speech on the latest resurgence of the coronavirus pandemic, particularly Biden's focus on vaccinations.
