The San Diego City Council Tuesday unanimously approved an amendment in a joint agreement with the San Diego Padres to allow football to be played in Petco Park, clearing the way for the downtown ballpark to host the Holiday Bowl in December.

Poway native Kelsey Plum and her three fellow WNBA players on the U.S. 3X3 women's basketball team will face France early Wednesday, California time, in a semifinal of the inaugural Olympic tournament.

The CSU had previously announced plans to require vaccinations, but only after the U.S. Food and Drug Administration gave full approval to at least one of the vaccines. All current vaccines are being administered under an "emergency use" authorization.

The move is intended to help create space in the shelter for other animals urgently in need.
