A new prosecutorial unit has been established to investigate labor law violations victimizing workers in San Diego County, it was announced Monday.

A police officer was shot Monday morning after responding to a domestic violence call in Escondido and the suspected shooter was later found dead of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound in a vacant apartment nearby, authorities said.

San Diego County reported 517 new cases of COVID-19 and two additional deaths as UC San Diego Health officials said the Petco Park COVID-19 vaccine super station will be closed Monday because of delayed vaccine shipments.
