Cpl. Daniel L. Linnabary II, 23, of Hubert, N.C., died Aug. 6 while conducting combat operations in Helmand province, Afghanistan.

Spc. Kyle B. McClain, 25, of Rochester Hills, Mich., died Aug. 1, in Salim Aka, Afghanistan.

Nearly 200 active-duty and Reserve Sailors scheduled to deploy to the world's busiest military trauma hospital began the second iteration of a training program July 30 at the Naval Expeditionary Medical Training Institute (NEMTI) in Camp Pendleton, Calif.

Pfc. Jose Oscar Belmontes, 28, of La Verne, California was killed on July 28 in Wardak province, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered from enemy small arms fire, according to the Department of Defense.

Army Pfc. Theodore M. Glende, 23, of Rochester, N.Y., died July 27, in Kharwar, Logar province, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when enemy forces attacked his unit with small-arms fire.

“I remember the day I heard that America was going into Afghanistan,” said Lance Cpl. Behzad Razzada, a member of the Embedded Partnering Team, Combat Logistics Battalion 4, 1st Marine Logistics Group (Forward). “My parents were happy because it was a chance for Afghanistan to unite and fight for freedom. They said it was the only way that injustice in Afghanistan would be finished.”

Army Spc. Justin L. Horsley, 21, and Pfc. Brenden N. Salazar, 20, were killed in Afghanistan by an IED on July 22nd.

Marine Sgt. Justin M. Hansen, 26, died July 24 while conducting combat operations in Badghis province, Afghanistan.

Pfc. Adam C. Ross, 19, of Lyman, S.C., died July 24, in Wardak province, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when he encountered small arms fire.

Staff Sgt. Brandon R. Pepper, 31, of York, Pa., died July 21, in Ghazni province, Afghanistan.
