Mexican Authorities Arrest Alleged Drug Cartel Lieutenant

US Drug Enforcement Administration officials can cross one off their list that seeks information on the new guard of Tijuana's Arellano Felix Drug Cartel.

Mexican authorities have arrested an allegedly high lieutenant in Tijuana's Arellano Felix Drug Cartel who appears on the poster.

Authorities say they nabbed Manuel Ivanovich Zambrano Flores at a mechanics shop in Tijuana Saturday afternoon.

DEA spokeswoman Eileen Zeidler says information from DEA agents in San Diego and Tijuana helped Mexican authorities capture Zambrano Flores.

Zeidler says Zambrano Flores moved up in the cartel's ranks after Mexican authorities arrested alleged cartel veteran Gustavo Rivera Martinez about a year and a half ago.

Soon to be replaced by yet another "Bad-Guy-Who-The-DEA-Can-Catch-So-That-We-Can-Show-Everyone-How-Important-It-Is-To-Keep-Funding-The-War-On-Drugs!"

Good going, KPBS. Keep being a cheerleader for this hopeless cause. The authorities who depend on this boondoggle thank you for helping them keep their jobs. What a great deal for your average DEA agent -- a war that will never end! My children's children will have continued employment.
