Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Vista, was selected today as chairman of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform. He has promised to closely scrutinize the Obama Administration.
Issa has served on the committee since 2005, investigating government waste and abuse.
"It's always easier to be careless with other people's money and the fact that Washington has somehow institutionalized waste, fraud and abuse is indicative of how broken this place has become," Issa said in a prepared statement.
The Republicans election victory last month will give Issa subpoena power to try and force members of the Obama administration to appear before the committee.
The California congressman and frequent critic in the current Congress will take the post in January.
