Oscar Noms And '44 Inch Chest'

Oscar Noms And '44 Inch Chest'
On this edition of the Film Club of the Air, we'll talk about the recently announced Oscar nominations, a British film called "44 Inch Chest," Helen Mirren's acclaimed performance in "The Last Station," and Romanian New Wave latest "Police, Adjective."

Maureen Cavanaugh: The nominations for the 82nd annual Academy Awards have been announced and what a mixed bag the Academy has served up this time. Huge box office smashes, against much less successful films. A 16-time academy award nominee facing off against first-time actors. And even if the nominations are not that much different than usual, there are so many more of them, with ten best picture nominees instead of the usual five.

Today on the KPBS Film Club of the Air, we'll talk about the Oscar nominations and about a group of new movies opening in San Diego.
