In the fourth season of TRAVELSCOPE, award-winning travel journalist and author Joseph Rosendo shares his personal perspective on cultural tourism from spots close to home as well as exotic worldwide locales. Shot in high definition, the series continues to enlighten and entertain viewers with thrilling destinations on five continents and personal encounters with diverse peoples.

Visit the "Travelscope" blog for more cultural discoveries from around the world.

This season, Rosendo treks into the Australian bush in pursuit of kangaroos, koalas and emus, embarks on an elephant-back safari in South Africa, discovers off-the-beaten-path gems in Bangkok, and traces the history, legends and traditions of the medieval festival of Fasnacht in Germany.

"Tasmania, Australia" - Joseph continues his Aussie adventure in Australia’s island state Tasmania. From the capital of Hobart and its harbor, markets and elegant neighborhoods he heads out across the state and traces Tasmania’s convict origins in the prisons of Port Arthur, hikes Cradle Mountain National Park, rides out the ups and downs of a fast paced eco-cruise along Tasman National Park’s spectacular coastline and meets the devil –– the Tasmanian Devil, that is. Along the way he samples the best of the local food and wine and gets to know Tasmania’s colorful and multi-cultural inhabitants.
