Thousands Sign Petition to Get Rush Limbaugh Off Armed Forces Radio

Home Post Blog: There are no plans to remove Rush Limbaugh‘s radio program from Armed Forces Radio Network, according to Pentagon spokesman George Little. But that hasn’t stopped more than 9,000 (at this writing) people from signing an online petition to remove Limbaugh’s program from taxpayer-funded airwaves, according to the Marine Corps Times.

The petition, aimed at Defense Secretary Leon Panetta and the Obama administration, reads in part:

"[Limbaugh's] remarks this week were well beyond the pale of what should be broadcast to our military and their families, supported with our tax dollars. We have a moral objection to our tax dollars being used for such a purpose." (read more)

I'm retired military with over 24 years in the Military, I just can not believe the military would allow a Female showiest and racist radio person like Rush Limbaugh’s continue to spread hate. It's prove to me the Pentagon does not care about woman, minorities or The President of our which Rush hate. This what upset about Limbaugh said about Georgetown Law Student:

The Georgetown Law School student derided as a “slut” and a “prostitute” by conservative talk radio giant Rush Limbaugh told ABC News Friday that the talk show host’s comments were “hurtful” and an attempt to silence women who speak out, especially on issues relating to women’s health care. Rush Limbaugh: Apology statement was more of a justification of his behavior with an added "comment to appease those he knows are flocking away from him," all the while ranting on about how correct he was in making the statement anyhow. Did you see where he states the following: "My choice of words was not the best, and in the attempt to be humorous, I created a national stir? I sincerely apologize to Ms. Fluke for the insulting word choices." So, let's break this down: He is apologizing for his "CHOICE OF WORDS," not his belief. That is, he still believes her to be what he called her. Second, he seems to take glee in the notion that he created a national stir? Stir? How about outrage? Does he not know that 52 percent of the electorate is comprised of females? The GOTP can thank him on November 3, 2012 for all of the women in this Country voting for the current President and for the President now re-connecting to his base of younger voters. And then finally, I "sincerely apologize to Miss Fluke for the word choices." This is marginalization at its best. Once again: It seems he is indicating not an apology for slandering her, or attempting to ruin her reputation as much as he is concerned about his "word choices." He STILL however, believes in his position. Hardly an apology!

Birth Control for millions of women is just not about preventing pregnancy. It is used to help control endometriosis and ovarian cysts. It is as important to their health as blood pressure meds, statins for heart disease and insulin for diabetics.... American Force Network Shame on you!

What I don't understand is brith control actually helps prevent unwanted pregnancies, thus prevents abortions.

I thought the right wings loonies hated abortions?

Theirmpolicies are draconian, extremist, and even contradictory.

And look at how many of the supposed "moral" leaders themselves have a laundry list of their own cheating, lying, and corruption.

Limbaugh himself has been in trouble with drugs and has reportedly taken ED pills to help him get erect for prostitutes he visited in the Dominican Republic, and now he passes moral judgement on a young lady who did absolutely nothing wrong.

Shame, shame on this cultural icon of the Republican Party.

There you go again Duck, name-calling just like they do to us. It DOESN'T HELP you win the arguments. I remember how the rightwingers spanked you on signonsandiego.

Stop stereotyping. Stop generalizing. Those are things that they do. The
Right IS NOT a bloc and neither is the Left. I am a person of the Left but I also am not afraid to criticize it.

I was salivating to comment on Limbo el Cheeso then I see your trite post about brith control/abortion. Nevermind mind that, focus on LImbo's deragatory remark on this woman over the national air waves.

I am a career Navy officer - retired. In light of the hateful, massaginistic comments by Rush Limbaugh and aired by Armed Forces Radio, I must call for an intervention. Although male, I know some women. Some are actually family members. They are not happy about being called "slut" and "prostitute" for using birth control. Limbaugh's foaming at the mouth 3-day tirade against a woman whose only offense was exercising her right of free speech, is blisteringly unacceptable. That the Pentagon continues to broadcast Limbaugh is intolerable. Drop that hate monger now!

Rush should immediately be terminated from broadcasting on Armed Forces Networks . His insulting remarks about women is an affront to female service members, those who respect them and servicemembers past and present.
AFN management should not have to get approval from Secretary Paneta to terminate Limbaugh's contract, but if that is the case, walk the termination request today and to be effective by COB 3/06/2012.

Missionaccomplished in the first part of their post:
**"There you go again Duck, name-calling just like they do to us. It DOESN'T HELP you win the arguments."**

Missionaccomplished in second part of their post:
**"I was salivating to comment on Limbo el Cheeso then I see your trite post...."**

Seems a bit of a contraction there, don't you think.

I think name calling against public officials who say hateful things is quite a bit different than name calling against a private citizen like Limbaugh did.

You may be uncomfortable with the women's health debate, but I'm not.

Whether you are willing to accept it or not, Limbaugh's horrid remarks come on the backdrop of this wider debate about women's health and the fact that Republicans are trying to prevent women from having access to **legal** abortions.

Republicans have held up major legislation in congress that involves a myriad of sweeping issues solely because they wanted a provision to defund planned parenthood.

So this assault on women's health is very real.

And as far as being a "religious rights issue" that is complete and utter crap.

Churches that exist in the United States of America, and as such they must follow our laws if they receive money from the government.

Nobody is telling churches what they can and can't do with private funds, this is about money they are receiving from the government.

If they don't agree with the stipulations they *do* indeed have a choice: **they can reuse the government money".**

I love the way these churches and cults profit off of huge tax breaks, get government aid, and then they still have to whine about having to follow federal guidelines on insurance.

Time to cut them off.

It was only a matter of time before Rush Limbaugh's mouth would backfire. This looks to be his silver bullet.

The concern of the 1st Ammendment Freedom of Speech will eventually be brought up in regards to our retaliation against him for speaking his mind, but that's not what this is about. One can say whatever they choose, but that does not mean they should, and will not be held accountable for their choice of words.

Sadly, I don't think a guy like Rush will ever learn his lesson. He's too in to himself.

Even sadder is the press going on and on about this. Let's move on.

Hey, Carryout1! Just what military would keep an illiterate guy like you on active duty for 24 years? Did you and Rocketeer serve together? Did you both witness the same "massaginistic" behavior.
