Supervisors To Vote On New County Administrative Officer

The San Diego County Board of Supervisors is scheduled tomorrow to consider approving an employment contract with the county's incoming chief administrative officer.

Under terms of the deal, which are posted on the county's website, Helen N. Robbins-Meyer, currently the assistant chief administrative officer, will receive a $259,000 annual salary when she succeeds current CAO Walt Ekard on Dec. 1.

The deal bumps her salary to $274,000 on Dec. 1, 2013, and $289,000 on Dec. 1, 2014.

Robbins-Meyer, of Poway, was appointed to be the county's top staffer in August, shortly after Ekard announced his decision to step down. He has led the county government since 1999.

Robbins-Meyer has worked for the county since 1997.

A big decision awaits some voters this July as the race for San Diego County’s Supervisor District 1 seat heats up. Are you ready to vote? Check out the KPBS Voter Hub to learn about the candidates, the key issues the board is facing and how you can make your voice heard.
