Defense Secretary In Shanksville, PA To Honor United Flight 93 Heroes (Video)


Panetta Travels To Shanksville, PA

Defense Secretary Leon Panetta traveled to Shanksville, Pennsylvania today to pay homage to the passengers and crew of United Flight 93 on the eve of the 11th anniversary of 9/11.

According to the United Flight 93 National Memorial web page, the 40 passengers and crew aboard United Flight 93 helped thwart their hijackers' plan to crash their plane into the U.S. Capitol. Flight 93 slammed into the ground in Shanksville, Somerset County, Pennsylvania on September 11th, 2001.

In July, the Navy christened the USS Somerset in honor of the crew and passengers on United Flight 93.
