Get out the firehose! It's a half-day marathon of classic Marilyn Monroe films courtesy of FilmOut (screening Saturday Feb. 22 starting at noon).

Okay there's just too much going on this weekend — the Film Geeks at the Digital Gym are presenting the San Diego premiere of Zoe Bell in "Raze" on Friday and Saturday, and on Sunday there's a Film Geeks Living Room Edition of the crowdsourced "Our Robocop Remake." And on Saturday: 12 hours and five films with Marilyn Monroe.

Monroe serves up a unique mix of sexuality and innocence that has proven irresistible. The FilmOut line up features two films that don't always get screened: "Niagara," featuring MM in a rare femme fatale role, and "The Misfits," one of her few dramatic roles. Michael McQuiggan, FilmOut's fearless programmer, deserves kudos for his programming that resists the more readily crowd-pleasing titles in favor of a mix of the familiar and the hard-to-find. I urge anyone who likes Monroe to come out and support these two films in particular. And if you haven't seen these two, then definitely make a point of seeking them out.

Here's a clip from "Niagara," featuring the great line from Jean Peters, who, when her husband asks her why she doesn't wear dresses like MM does, responds, "for a dress like that you have to start laying plans when you're 13."
