Jeffrey Hatchers stage success, Stage Beauty (opening October 15 at Landmarks Hillcrest Cinemas) makes its move to the big screen with Billy Crudup and Claire Danes starring.
Jeffrey Hatcher was reading Samuel Pepys diary and discovered that this 17th century, rabid theater fan wrote a lot about Edward Kynaston, the greatest cross dressing actor of his day. Kynaston played all the great female roles and Pepys described him in performance as the most beautiful woman in the house. But Hatcher was struck by the fact that at a certain point Kynaston disappears from the diaries.
