When FBI agents searched former Congressman Randy Duke Cunningham's offices and home this year in a criminal bribery investigation they found an incriminating note. KPBS Reporter Amita Sharma has details.

Sources say investigators discovered a piece of paper on which Cunningham wrote a formula to calculate how much money he would receive based on the worth of the military contracts he helped award.

Cunningham pleaded guilty last week to taking more than $2 million in bribes in exchange for helping defense firms get millions of dollars in contracts. Defense Attorney Marc Carlos says Cunningham's brazenness is similar to that of sociopaths.

Carlos: "What it actually reflects is an arrogance on their part, a lack of belief in their ability to be caught by police or to be found to do anything wrong which is even more disturbing."

Cunningham faces 10 years in prison when he is sentenced in February. Amita Sharma, KPBS News.
