In a battle that has lasted for decades, residents of University City will find out today if a controversial bridge plan will be approved by the City Council.
Supporters say it is necessary to relieve traffic during the heavily-congested rush hours, while opponents claim the bridge will inflict irreversible damage on the legacy of the nearby Rose Canyon.
Host Tom Fudge discusses the issue with the leaders of two community groups who have very different opinions on the matter.
At 2 p.m. today, August 1, the San Diego City Council is addressing the proposal to build a Regents Road bridge across Rose Canyon. City Council meets on the 12th floor of the City Administration Building, downtown at 202 C Street.
