Gas Prices on the Rise Again in San Diego County
Tom Fudge : When it comes to gas prices, the story of the latter part of this year is one of falling prices. After reaching a high of nearly $3.50 in the spring, gas prices have fallen about a dollar a gallon. But last week something interesting happened. Gas prices started to go up again. This has provided plenty of fodder for suspicious consumers, who believe the earlier drop in gas prices was due to the election. The oil industry, they say, didn’t want Americans to go to the polls angry about high gas prices. This could be especially true in California, where the oil industry fought hard to defeat Proposition 87, the oil extraction tax.
