The high humidity and thunderstorms in the East County are unusual weather for San Diego, but not unexpected for this time of year.
That is according to forecaster Stan Wiskowski of the National Weather Service . He says this monsoon-like weather is the result of moisture moving westward from the southeast into California.
Wiskowski : You know, it will fluctuate; sometimes you'll get a whole bunch and other times you'll get very little. And so you just look for showers and thunderstorms over the mountains and deserts during the afternoon and early evening hours.
Wiskowski says this weather is typical in late July thru the end of August.
