Bomb is one of the shorts showcased in this year's alt.pictureshows.
Just as the Wii revolutionized video gaming, turning a rather passive endeavor into a stimulatingly active one, the alt.pictureshow s '07 program at the Museum of Contemporary Art La Jolla turns channel surfing from a couch potato spectator sport into a much more dynamic and socially engaging form of recreation. The one-night event is Thursday August 23.
Now in its fifth year, alt.pictureshows '07 is the pet project of Neil Kendricks, the MCASD film curator as well as a local teacher and filmmaker. Kendricks has been nurturing this baby along since it's inception and he likes to describe the program as "physical channeling surfing." That's because the event is spread out across multiple venues at the museum's La Jolla location.
