San Diego Republican Congressman Duncan Hunter attacked Democrats and a liberal group for criticizing General David Petraeus. His remarks came during testimony on Capitol Hill. Sara Sciammacco reports.
Congressman Hunter says the Iraqi forces are maturing and the U.S. is closer to a successful hand-off with the Iraqi government.
But he blasted the non-profit Moveon.org for placing an advertisement in the New York Times . It labeled General David Petraeus as General ‘BETRAY US.’ Hunter called the ad outrageous and said the soldiers serving oversees are taking note.
Hunter : They are not only watching his testimony but they are also watching our testimony. They are watching how we treat them and they are watching this Congress to see if we give credibility to what people in uniform say.
Hunter is a ranking Republican on the Armed Services committee. He has a son serving with the Marines in Iraq. Congress is using Petraeus's testimony to make decisions about funding for the war.
