Barracks Shaped Like Swastika at Coronado Naval Base to be Changed
Tom Fudge: The U.S. Navy this week announced that it would spend more than half a million dollars to make one of its Coronado buildings look different. It's a complex of barracks which, from the air, look very much like a Swastika. This fact has been known for many years. In fact, it's fair to say the people who designed the building must have spotted it from the beginning.
But it's taken until now for the criticism of it to be loud enough to really get the Navy's attention. Tony Perry, of the LA Times , wrote about the Navy's response to the controversy. Yesterday, his story was the No. 1 most e-mailed story on the LA Times website.
