Tom Fudge: Last year, San Diegans were given a choice when it came to airports: Try to develop a commercial airport at Miramar Air Station or keep things the way they are. San Diegans didn't exactly vote to keep things the way they are. But by rejecting an attempt to pursue Miramar, they did basically choose what we already have: Lindbergh Field.
Today the San Diego County Regional Airport Authority is faced with the challenge of meeting our growing travel needs by focusing on Lindbergh. Some people can't believe that the constrained, single-runway airport will do the job. And maybe it won't. There are ways to expand, either by increasing the capacity of Lindbergh or using other local airports.
