Juno marks Diablo Cody's debut as screenwriter (Fox Searchlight)
Diablo Cody was writing a blog about the sex industry when someone suggested she write a screenplay. What began as nothing more than a writing exercise is now the acclaimed independent film Juno (currently playing in area theaters). Listen to my interview with Diablo Cody about her screenwriting debut.
Sixteen-year old Juno has an announcement to make:
Juno: "I'm pregnant but I'm going to give it up for adoption. I found the perfect couple and they'll pay for all the medical expenses and in 30 odd weeks we can pretend this never happened."
DIABLO CODY: "The character is autobiographical even though the story isn't."
That's writer Diablo Cody. Like Juno, she's something of an outsider. But being outside the film industry may be precisely what allowed Cody to write the freshest script of the year.
DIABLO CODY: "The point at which I wrote it, I really had nothing to lose. I figured there are a lot of scripts out there that sound the same and are a little vanilla and formulaic, so I would rather do something different and be accused of going too far than hold myself back."

Hi Ms. Cody, I saw your movie(JUno) today, and I loved it. I think it's much better than No Country For Old Men.

Juno is one of the best movies I have seen in a long, long time. I am a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and think every teenager and parent need to see this movie. So down to earth, and real. Loved it!!!
