Tom Fudge: Violence and battle has died down considerably in Iraq’s Sunni al-Anbar province. But Camp Pendleton Marines are still there, keeping the peace and trying to help local tribes work out their differences.

Tony Perry is the San Diego bureau chief for the L.A. Times , and he's in Iraq covering locally-based Marines.
