Voiceofsandiego.org announced this morning that the nonprofit news organization is laying off four employees.
The news follows closely to other big changes in the news media in San Diego: the sale of The San Diego Union-Tribune to developer Doug Manchester.
Three of the layoffs are news staffers: Emily Alpert, education reporter, Adrian Florido, neighborhood reporter, and Sam Hodgson, photo editor.
On Twitter, voiceofsandiego.org's Editor Andrew Donohue referred to the reporters as family, calling them "incredible journalists" and saying "If there's a harder day, I don't want to live it."
The organization is not planning any additional staff reductions, according to Donohue.
