Chapter Synopsis
The girls and Aunt Irma head north to Mazatlán to go shopping. They stop along the road at a bean stand. When they realize how elevated price is Irma yells at the owner, calling him a thief. A Guatemalan woman is picking through spoiled fruit at the next stand. She tells Irma she is travelling north and asks for some help. Irma screams at her to go back where she came from and that Mexico is for the Mexicans.
The girls complain of being lonely. They have no one to serenade them or chase them or compliment them. There are no men.
